The process starts by wheel throwing, or slip casting each individual round form from a variety of different clays.
Those pieces are then surfaced with slip, terra sigillattas, stains and glazes.
I then fire them in the kiln from temperatures ranging from cone 04 to cone 6.
When they are removed from the kiln I hand airbrush and paint each one with acrylics to achieve a particular surface.
They are then double sealed with an acrylic sealer.
The pieces are then affixed to a porcelain, tumbled stone, slate, or travertine tile.
I custom make wodden boxes, made of white pine, poplar, oak, or walnut that I affix the tiled pieces to. After the adhesive has have set I return with the airbrush and define the edges. They are then sealed again.
The piece is then signed and ready to hang.
Every step of the process is hand done by me. I do not employ anyone else in this process.
